Dr. Blaire Maliwat, N.D., LAc, R.D.N., MPH, MSAOM

Dr. Blaire Maliwat is a Licensed Naturopathic Physician, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, and Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist.

Dr. Maliwat graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Medicine in 2008. During her last semester of senior year, her grandfather suffered a stroke, which motivated her to change her career path from treating animals to treating people. Dr. Maliwat has always had a deep belief in the power of a healthy diet and the connection between “you are what you eat”.   She earned her Master of Public Health from The University of Michigan and became a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in 2010.   When introduced to a MD who practiced preventative medicine, she discovered the practice of naturopathic medicine, which proved to be the perfect fit for her “food as medicine” philosophy.   She moved to Washington to attend Bastyr University in 2011 and graduated in 2016 with a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine as well as a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Maliwat obtained one year of dietetic experience through rotations at The University of Michigan. Throughout medical school she completed over 1,200 clinical training hours and treated over 700 patients at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle.  The rotations included patient care shifts as well as specialty shifts, including IV medicine, oncology, and environmental medicine. She has also gained experience through precept opportunities with some of the top naturopathic doctors in Seattle.

Individual Focused Treatment

With a strong background in nutrition, Dr. Maliwat uses the concept of food as medicine as the foundation for her patients and believes in treating the root cause of disease. She considers healing to be an active journey, one which requires the practitioner and patient to learn, grow, and work together to achieve the best results.  Her mission is simple: Help develop healthy people to create a happier, healthier world.
