Christina Nguyen, M.S., L.A.C., is a California state licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. Christina began her education at the University of California Irvine where she received her bachelors degree in English with an emphasis in Education in hopes of one day becoming a teacher. While working at Coastal Acupuncture and Natural Health Center (CANH), she discovered a passion for nutrition and holistic medicine. Her love for teaching and healing became a platform towards pursuing her Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at South Baylo University. While studying for her Masters, Christina proactively sought out additional healing modalities and is now certified in cranialsacral therapy at The Upledger Institute as well.
Christina has worked with Coastal Acupuncture for over five years, beginning her career as a front office manager and acupuncture medical assistant under the supervision of Dr. Suzanne Tang and Tina Yang. As such, Christina is well versed in efficient yet thorough patient care from start to finish. Christina was inspired to pursue holistic medicine as a career after witnessing many health miracles while at CANH. With over 1000 hours of clinical experience at South Baylo University, Christina finished her four year program with honors and was voted by her classmates, teachers, and faculty advisors The South Baylo Clinic Excellence Award. Although Christina learned to treat many different disorders at school and in clinic, her heart is for treating women’s health, nutrition, pediatrics, adolescent mental wellness, and fertility, which are all interrelated. She has attended many women’s health conferences alongside Tina Yang L.Ac. and is certified in Cranial Sacral Therapy, a form of bodywork therapy primarily focused on regulating the flow of cranial rhythms by using therapeutic touch to relax muscles and joints.
Individual Focused Treatment
Coming from a family of Western medical doctors, Christina developed early on an acute awareness for those in need of healing whether it be physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Her compassion for people led her towards a career in education, but little did she know that one day she would become a health educator. Now as a licensed acupuncturist, Christina’s goals as a practitioner are to incorporate her passion for education with her love for integrative medicine to ensure patients receive the proper knowledge and care to help reach their health goals. Christina strongly believes wellness is not simply skin deep but starts from within. By promoting balance– the internal with the external, western with eastern, exercise with dietary counseling, Christina’s treatment plans are customized to treat not only the symptoms of imbalance but the root cause. Some treatments may include acupuncture, Chinese herbs, supplements, dietary and lifestyle counseling, diagnostic laboratory testing, Cranialsacral Therapy, moxibustion, cupping, and ultrasound.
Areas of Specialization
Christina knew early on in her acupuncture career that she wanted to specialize in women’s health, diet and nutrition, fertility, pediatrics, and adolescent mental wellness. While apprenticing under Tina Yang L.Ac. and Dr. Suzanne Tang N.D., L.Ac. at CANH, Christina became interested in natural fertility as well as assisted reproductive treatments such as intra-uterine insemination and in-vitro fertilization. Christina worked alongside her mentors creating many successful fertility protocols and has helped formulate and encapsulate herbal formulas that range from treating gynecological disorders, GI disorders, lactation deficiencies, irregular menstruation, to allergies as well. Naturally, her love for fertility intertwined with pediatrics as she witnessed many infants suffer with health problems after delivery. As such, Christina began specializing in acupressure for infants and adolescents suffering with eczema, allergies, ADHD, ADD, and OCD. As former president to the Boys and Girl Scouts of America Troop in Irvine, Christina worked alongside youth her entire life, supporting and mentoring children and young adults alike to make healthy, ethical, and responsible life choices. Not only does Christina have a heart for fertility and pediatrics, she also is an advocate for adolescent mental wellness and treats depression, anxiety, self-harm, and eating disorders.
