Dr. Miranda Naylor, D.O.
Dr. Miranda Naylor is an Osteopathic Physician, board-certified in Family Medicine and specializing in Functional Medicine.
Dr. Naylor earned a bachelor’s degree in biology with minors in psychology and religious studies from San Diego State University. During her time there, she was introduced to osteopathic medicine and was immediately drawn to its philosophy that the body is self-healing. She felt a calling to become a healer and help people return to a balanced state of wellness. She went on to receive her medical degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Western University, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, where she was trained in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Craniosacral Treatment. She then completed residency at Northridge Family Medicine Residency Program, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.Working long hours in a hospital throughout her training, Dr. Naylor quickly became disenchanted with conventional medicine. She was dissatisfied with the current system of medicine in the United States, which focused on “treating” symptoms with medications, with little to no concern for finding and treating the underlying cause of illness. This led her to Functional Medicine, which uses a systems-oriented approach to treat the root cause of disease and promotes optimal wellness. She is currently undergoing certification in Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Dr. Naylor has been passionate about the healing power of food since she was in college. At her medical school, she created the Food Is Medicine lunch lecture series, to meet the need for further education in nutrition, which is so lacking in medical schools. She also served as the chapter president of the American Medical Student Association and Student Physicians for Social Responsibility and served on the board of the Center of Community and Global Health. She graduated medical school with honors and received the President’s Award and East-West Scholarship.
Throughout medical school and residency, Dr. Naylor took special interest in osteopathic medicine, integrative medicine, and sports medicine, working with some of the top practitioners in each field.
She is a lifelong learner, continuously reviewing the most up to date information, and attending webinars and conferences.
In her free time, Dr. Naylor loves cooking healthy meals, walking and hiking with her husband and dog, practicing yoga and pilates, traveling the world, and spending time with family and friends.
